SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. — I-65 is open following a deadly crash early Tuesday morning in Bullitt County.

According to the Shepherdsville Police Department, the crash happened just before 6 a.m. at the 116-mile marker, near the Shepherdsville/Mt. Washington exit.

Jordan Yuodis with Jefferson County Fire said six passenger vehicles and one semi were involved in the crash. One person was killed and two others were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the person who died has not been released.

As of 11:15 a.m., Yuodis said northbound lanes may open with an hour and southbound lanes will remain closed for at least another two hours.

The road closures have traffic backed up from Lebanon Junction to the Gene Snyder in Louisville. The area will likely continue to be congested, even as the roadway reopens.
