Vince Tyra announced Lolla's resignation on Tuesday. A nationwide search for a new coach will begin immediately.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — After coaching the Cards for 13 years, Ken Lolla has resigned from the University of Louisville.

University of Louisville Vice President and Director of Athletics Vince Tyra announced Lolla's resignation as head coach of the men's soccer program on Tuesday.

Lolla said that it was time for him and his wife, Tina, to move on to new challenges, adding that "promptings from God" influenced the decision.

"We are forever grateful for the acceptance, support, and love we have received from the Louisville community," he said in a statement.

"We respect Ken and Tina's decision and wish them the best," Tyra said.

Lolla had a 155-77-39 record overall and lead the Cardinals to 11 NCAA Championship appearances during his 13 seasons as head coach. The Cardinals earned their first ACC Championship title in 2018 before losing to Michigan State in the NCAA Championship.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately, according to the university.

We will talk to Ken Lolla on WHAS11 News at 5pm on Tuesday to learn more about his next steps.
