Brohm quiets Louisville rumors, says Purdue is 'where I want to be'

Brohm said that while he always wishes his alma mater the best, Purdue is where he wants to be.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WHAS11) — After Purdue's 28-21 win over rival Indiana, Jeff Brohm continued to hush rumors that a move to his alma mater is in the works.

"I want Louisville to do what's best for them," Brohm said. "I'm a fan. But right now, I'm the coach at Purdue. This is where I want to be and I like it here."

Brohm has been asked about returning to Louisville since the university fired Bobby Petrino after winning two out of ten games this season. Brohm was a quarterback coach under Petrino in his first stint at Louisville, and then assistant head coach under Petrino's successor Steve Kragthorpe.

"I've heard the noise, just like everyone else," Brohm said earlier this month. "I think it's important right now for me not to comment on any speculation. Right now I have a job and we've got work to do and a lot of it."

This season is Brohm's second as head coach at Purdue, coaching fellow Trinity grad and New Albany native Rondale Moore and company to a bowl game this season.

Moore told rivals.com that Brohm told the team "there's nothing to worry about" regarding him leaving for Louisville.

"Jeff's been clear he's happy where he is at Purdue, and I think Purdue's happy to have him," Louisville AD Vince Tyra told WHAS11, "but he's certainly a great option for us."

Tyra said Louisville has not scheduled an interview with Brohm and that what is most important to the university is that their next coach is a right fit.
