INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - What purchase could possibly excite and thrill someone who already owns an NFL football team? For Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, it's a piano that once belonged to John Lennon.

Irsay tweeted Saturday that he's "elated" to now be the owner an upright piano Lennon used to write songs for the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album.

The Indianapolis Star reports the piano was auctioned on the site, GottaHaveRockandRoll.com. The site estimated it would sell for between $800,000 and $1.2 million. As of Saturday afternoon, it didn't say how much it actually sold for.

Irsay's tweet says he takes seriously the responsibility of being steward of the piano "with future generations in mind."

The piano was made in the 1870s. It's thought that Lennon acquired it around 1966.
