Racing fans invited to see Justify train for Belmont at Churchill Downs

Churchill Downs will open the paddock to the public, starting May 23.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – Horse racing fans will now have a chance to see unbeaten Triple Crown hopeful Justify and four other possible Belmont Stakes contenders train at Churchill Downs FREE of charge.

Churchill Downs will open the paddock to the public, starting May 23, to see Justify train on the track.

Justify’s training is from 7:30 a.m.to 7:40 a.m. starting Thursday through June 4. Those unable to come to the Louisville track can watch an online live stream of the daily exercises with commentary at www.KentuckyDerby.com/Works from 7:20-7:45 a.m. through Monday, June 4.

You can also watch the other possible Belmont contenders--Bravazo, Free Drop Billy, Restoring Hope and Tenfold--each morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Only 12 horses have swept the Triple Crown: Sir Barton (1919), Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), Affirmed (1978) and American Pharoah (2015).
