Gov. Bevin reacts to Bourbon tariffs, pension ruling

The governor said the Bourbon tariff proposed by the European Union was a "money grab" and he would be appealing the judge's ruling on the pension overhaul law.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Bourbon may become more expensive in Europe.

The European Union is proposing a 25 percent tariff on bourbon imports. Governor Bevin called the move a money grab on CNBC's Squawk Box on June 21.

“This is just a money grab by the EU because they don't even have a bourbon industry, so it's basically a money grab on a popular product,” Bevin said.

He was also asked about a Kentucky Judge ruling his pension reform bill as "unconstitutional."

It comes after state Attorney General filed a lawsuit saying there was not enough time for lawmakers to read over the bill.

Bevin called the judge terrible, adding that the decision was politically motivated. Governor Matt Bevin's legal team said they will appeal.
