(LBF) -- The longstanding Apple Store in Louisville's Oxmoor Center is upgrading and moving to a larger space in the mall.

An $800,000 building permit was issued recently by Louisville Metro Government for exterior and interior renovations and alterations for the new space. The construction project will be led by Sajo Construction Inc. of Montreal, Canada, and the work will be spread across more than 12,000 square feet, the permit shows.

A source with knowledge of the deal confirmed the move but did not disclose where the new store will be in the mall. It will be more than twice the size of the current store.

Sajo has worked on previous Apple Store projects, including a multimillion-dollar buildout for a next-generation Apple Store in Jacksonville, Fla., a few years ago.

We also found out this week through internal research that local electrical contractor Beard Electric Co. LLC is a contractor on the Apple Store project.
