LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – As the Ohio River begins to recede days after heavy rains caused widespread flooding, officials with the Waterfront Development Corporation are looking for volunteers to assist with cleanup efforts.
Officials say they have received numerous calls from people who wanted to help and have organized a #TeamUpForCleanUp day.
The event gets underway on March 1 at 1 p.m.
Volunteers can meet at the Green Parking Lot on River Road, just south of Witherspoon under I-64 to pick up gloves and trash bags.
There, officials say park reps will direct volunteers where to areas where they need help the most.
If you can’t make the event and still want to help, officials say you are welcomed to do so but you would have to bring your own gloves and trash bags.
Those bags can be discarded in the dumpster in the Green Lot.
