LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- A jury awarded Louisville Metro Police Department Lt. Jimmy Harper $300,000 in the whistle-blower lawsuit he filed against the city.
The jury said Harper acted in good faith and Harper's statement to Mayor Greg Fischer was a factor in his demotion at LMPD.
Harper had criticized LMPD Chief Steve Conrad's decision to get rid of the department's flex platoons. That department targets hot-spot crime areas in Harper's district.
Harper testified over the course of two days during the trial.
An economic analyst testified Harper lost out on $338,000 in wages and pension after he was demoted from major.
