Jury reaches verdict in LMPD whistle-blower trial, awards Lt. Harper $300K

A jury awarded Lt. Jimmy Harper $300,000 in the whistle-blower lawsuit he filed against the city.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- A jury awarded Louisville Metro Police Department Lt. Jimmy Harper $300,000 in the whistle-blower lawsuit he filed against the city.

The jury said Harper acted in good faith and Harper's statement to Mayor Greg Fischer was a factor in his demotion at LMPD.

Harper had criticized LMPD Chief Steve Conrad's decision to get rid of the department's flex platoons. That department targets hot-spot crime areas in Harper's district.
