LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Researchers at the University of Louisville in collaboration with the Medical College of Wisconsin are hoping to find a cure for people with night blindness.
We are adept to seeing in low light, but a gene mutation can disrupt that ability, causing total night blindness.
Researchers have found a gene therapy that may restore visual function for those people by isolating and replacing a key protein required for low light vision.
The procedure has already been tested on mice and will next be tested on animals with models with eyes similar to humans.
