Brothers injured in hit-and-run now in stable condition

People are advised to avoid the area of 31st and W. Broadway while police investigate the scene.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — Two boys are now in stable condition after they were hit by a car early Wednesday morning.

The boys, 11 and 13 years old, were hit at 31st and W. Broadway. According to police, the brothers were crossing Broadway to get to a TARC bus stop when they were hit by a car traveling westbound.

They were taken to Norton Children's Hospital in serious condition, but have improved throughout the morning. The car drove away and there is no definitive description of the vehicle at this time.

WHAS11's Rob Harris went to the scene this morning and officials toldhim that one juvenile may have a head injury. The specific injuries have not been confirmed.

WHAS11's Brooke Hasch was at Norton Children's Hospital when the ambulance arrived. She tweeted that two people were taken out of the ambulance.
