TARC, Kroger to provide alternative food source option for West Louisville

TARC will operate a temporary bridge service for the community to reach the nearest Kroger at 520 N 35th Street.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — TARC and Kroger are teaming up to provide an alternative food source option to the community of West Louisville due to the temporary closing of the 28th Street W Broadway Kroger location.

According to a news release, TARC will operate a temporary bridge service for the community to reach the nearest Kroger at 520 N 35th Street.

This temporary fare-free service will connect the Kroger at 2710 W Broadway to the Kroger at 520 N 35th Street.

Service is expected to begin on June 2 at noon, and run every 30 minutes, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the 2710 W Broadway Kroger reopens.

“Access to a reliable source of food goods is necessary for a healthy community,” said Laura Douglas, TARC Co-Executive Director. “We are pleased to continue our growing relationship with Kroger and to provide this essential-trip service for our customers.”

“The timing for this is very important,” said Margaret Handmaker, TARC Co-Executive Director. “TARC remains a critical piece to our city’s infrastructure; our job is to connect people to resources.”

“We love our customers in the Russel neighborhood and are so thankful to TARC for their assistance in helping create further access for their grocery needs. TARC is a wonderful community partner and an asset to our city. We look to reopen our store as soon as possible to serve our customers,” said Erin Grant, Kroger Corporate Affairs Manager.

TARC would like to remind all passengers that ridership on ALL TARC BUSES remains limited to “essential services only,” face coverings are required to ride, and passengers must exit the rear doors.
