Rare bourbon bottled for a good cause

Each bottle is signed by distiller Buddy Thompson and proceeds go to military veterans' groups.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Earlier this spring, dozens stood in line for a bottle of rare bourbon. Soon, they'll have another chance to add to their collection.

The crew at Kentucky Artisan Distillery has been busy bottling two batches of Final Reserve: James Thompson and Brother Bourbon from the former Glenmore Distilleries.

In March, the Frazier Museum sold 45-year-old bottles of the bourbon. May 25, they'll start selling batches which are 44 and 42-years-old.

Each bottle is signed by distiller Buddy Thompson and proceeds go to military veterans’ groups.

“It just chokes me up to think about what happened to the Vietnam vets when they came home and the way they were treated. Now it's much better nowadays, but it's still, these are people that have risked their life and limb for us, for you and me. And I don't think we can do enough for them,” Thompson said,

You can purchase a bottle online at the Frazier Museum's website beginning May 25. The 44-year Final Reserve is $2,000 plus tax and the 42-year is going for $1,800 plus tax.
