Police charge man after Friday's downtown Louisville incident

A man was taken into police custody following an incident in downtown Louisville on Friday, April 27.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Police have given the all-clear after heavy police activity shut down a block of downtown for an hour on Friday afternoon. One person was arrested and is facing charges.

The area impacted by the police activity was between 5th and Ali Boulevard/Chestnut Street, near a parking garage. Officers were investigating an incident. Maj. Eric Johnson said officers responded to reports of a man with a gun in a parking garage.

Metrosafe and Maj. Johnson confirmed that one person has been taken into custody. Johnson said the person was an adult male.

LMPD said late Friday a man, identified as 53-year-old Terona L. Hall, is facing charges of robbery, wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Investigators are still gathering details.
