LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Honor Flight Bluegrass is asking for your help to give WWII veterans the chance to fly in a B-25.

The plane is most well known for being used in the Doolittle Raid during the war.

The bomber "Show Me" will be in town for the Bowman Field Aviation Festival and the organization wants to give veterans the chance to ride in it.

It costs $300 per veteran but they don't want any vet to have to pay for themselves.

“I talked to a man this morning who flew airplanes during the war. He was a gunner, he wants to fly in the plane. And he's a perfect example, he'd like to get a sponsorship. We sometimes forget some of these older folks are on fixed incomes. They just don't have $300 and we can't fly them for free because the plane is from the Air Force and they have to cover their cost,” Jeff Thoke of Honor Flight Bluegrass said.

If you would like to sponsor a veteran's flight or know a veteran who would like to fly on the bomber, contact Jeff Thoke at 645-5421 or jthoke@yahoo.com.
