Museums, aquariums, zoos opening in Kentucky this week

The next phase of Governor Andy Beshear's Healthy At Work reopening plan started on June 8 and also included libraries and in-home childcare.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — More community businesses and attractions are opening in Kentucky this week. The next phase of the state's Healthy At Work reopening plan started on June 8 and includes educational and cultural activities, horse shows, and in-home childcare programs.

While these businesses are now allowed to open, not all have chosen to. It's a good idea to check with a business or attraction either by phone or online before leaving home.

Opening in Kentucky this week

Aquariums

The Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky announced it will officially reopen to the public on June 22 for season passholders and on June 25 for all guests. Visitors must go through a temperature check before entering the aquarium and will be required to wear a mask.

There are dozens of distilleries in the state of Kentucky. Check with your favorite before scheduling a visit.

Libraries

The Louisville Free Public Library has not announced a reopening date. Curbside services will be provided one day a week for each of the library's 10 locations.

The Louisville Zoo plans to open to members on June 12. It will open to all guests on June 26. While masks are not required for visitors, the zoo strongly encourages everyone over the age of 5 to wear a mask. You can learn more here.
