LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- The winner of the Morning Brew Blend contest was the Gourmet Blend (Juliana's pick)!
John Conti, a small-batch, artisan coffee roaster, gave the Morning Brew team members--Juliana Valencia, Derrick Rose, Brooke Hasch and T.G. Shuck--their own coffee blend.
They took a tour of the John Conti Factory on Monday to get a behind the scenes look at how the coffee producer creates their blends.
Juliana's blend: Gourmet Blend – A medium roast coffee with a nutty, malty base and light sweet notes, medium acidity and medium body.
Derrick's blend: Breakfast Blend – A medium-dark roast blend of Central and South American beans. This coffee has a bold spicy flavor with light fruity notes, medium body and good acidity.
Brooke's blend: Java Blue Batavia – A single origin coffee grown in the volcanic soil of the mountainous region of Preanger in West Java. It is a smooth, flavorful cup with notes of florals, berry sweets and an almond finish.
T.G.'s blend: J.C. Signature Blend – A medium blend of Central and South American and Indonesian beans. This coffee has a full complex flavor of a nutty base with baker’s chocolate and sweet notes, a rich, heavy body and good acidity.
