LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Metro Council President David James is calling for a special meeting to review the report on the alleged sex abuse within the police department’s Youth Explorer program.
The program mentored teenagers interested in becoming police officers.
James is required to get 18 signatures by Tuesday from council members to hold that meeting on Wednesday.
If he gets those signatures, they will review the report in closed session before releasing it to the public.
At the center of that investigation are two officers who once ran the program.
They're accused of having inappropriate sexual relationships with minors.
The investigation was launched by former U.S. Attorney Kerry Harvey of Lexington. He was chosen by the mayor and approved by the council.
