LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – With shootings continuing to rise in the area, Kentucky’s lieutenant governor is reaching out in efforts to help tackle the problem.

Jenean Hampton is planning to meet with community leaders and those close to the non-violence movement in Louisville in Frankfort on June 23.

“Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton – her office wanted to know if we were interested in having a meeting with her about what’s going on in real time on the ground with the shootings, especially in West Louisville,” community activist Christopher 2x said.

Christopher 2X says a “Put Down the Guns” summer series will begin on June 3 with a skating event at Manslick Rollerdome from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
