LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – If you’re attending this weekend’s Louisville Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival, organizers say a new twist has been added to the event.

The Kentuckiana BBQ Pitmasters Backyard BBQ competition will take place on Saturday, giving those who love and crave good eats a chance to witness some of the smoking in action.

The amateur competition will allow competitors to show off their skills and process of making award-winning barbecue.

Officials say judging in the competition will take place before Saturday’s festivities, however, barbecue lovers can participate in the People’s Choice Award at 4 p.m.

There, they’ll have their chance to sample some of the entries and vote for their favorite Boston butt.
