Kenwood Drive-In gets historical marker

That marker was unveiled Tuesday, July 31, and is all that remains of the old theater on Southside Drive.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- It was a centerpiece in South Louisville for decades and now, the Kenwood Drive-In will forever be remembered thanks to a new historical marker.

That marker was unveiled Tuesday, July 31, at the site of the old theater on Southside Drive.

The sign is now all that's left of the drive-in as the former space is currently a business park.

The Kenwood Drive-In opened in 1949 and entertained families for 60 years before closing in 2009.

When it closed, the Kenwood was Louisville's last remaining drive-in movie theater.
