LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The protests and petitions have made for a challenging year for JCPS with all eyes on Superintendent Dr. Donna Hargens.
"We've had some misses; salary study, code of conduct, openings for busses, referrals, data integrity issues," said board member Chris Brady.
The board presented its evaluation of Dr. Hargens Tuesday night addressing her leadership. One word was brought up several times—trust.
"The way we instill trust and the way people believe in the positive stories we tell about ourselves is if we're also willing to tell the not-so-positive and the negative stories about ourselves and if we're just honest," said board member Lisa Wilner.
Other things they're asking her to do include:
- Have open discussions with teachers and school executives
- Be clearer when it comes to how JCPS is going to operate
- Build stronger relationships within JCPS
Board Members said they are excited for the future and for these goals to be met.
“Dr. Hargens, I think you're very intuitive and so that gives me some comfort that you can hear the message that is being sent by the board," said Chuck Haddaway.
No action was taken concerning her evaluation.
