Student detained after social media threat posted about S. Indiana school

SCOTT CO., Ind. (WHAS11) – A social media threat was made against an Indiana school, in the Scott County School District 1, on Tuesday night.

The Austin Police Department located the student who made the threat and that student was detained. He is in custody in another county.

The temporary superintendent for the district Kenneth Kidd said the department worked quickly to detain the student.

Kidd said there was additional police presence on the Austin High School campus on Dec. 12, along with their School Resource Officer. The school began at the normal time and was not interrupted by the threat; attendance was normal.
