FLOYD COUNTY, Ind. — With so much going on right now between COVID-19 and the recent protests seen across the country, it’s easy to forget Tuesday is Indiana’s primary election.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Here is a list of what to bring and expect.
After the state pushed Indiana’s primary back a month, election officials also made new changes due to COVID-19. Poll workers will be wearing masks and following social distance guidelines.
According to election officials, voters are not required to wear masks, but it is strongly encouraged.
Indiana has already received an unprecedented number of absentee ballots. Election workers expect 10 times as many absentee ballots this year than four years ago. Clark County Clerk Susan Popp says she's happy with the turnout so far.
"I've been very surprised at the number of people based on the distraction that we've had with the coronavirus. They're very focused and realize that there is an election and they want to participate in the process," said Popp.
Election officials said if you did not receive an absentee ballot yet, you can still vote in-person. If it’s completed and you didn’t mail one in, you can also drop it off at a polling location.
