LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – As families take to the road for Memorial Day Weekend, Indiana State Police are reminding drivers to buckle up.

Police say will be enforcing seat belt use as the Click It or Ticket campaign runs through the busy travel season which ends on June 3.

One of their focuses will be nighttime driving, which sees the highest number of passenger vehicle occupants killed, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Agencies who are participating in the campaign will take a no-excuses approach to the seatbelt law and will be writing tickets day and night.

The maximum penalty for a seat belt violation in the state of Indiana is $25.
