INDIANAPOLIS — After three children were killed while crossing the street to get to the school bus, Indiana lawmakers are taking steps to prevent it from happening again. The family of three children killed in October urged the bill's passing.

Our Indianapolis affiliate, WRTV, reports the general assembly has passed a proposal to increase the penalties for people who pass buses with the stop arm out.

The bill now goes to Governor Eric Holcomb for his signature.
