Highlands restaurant announces temporary closure, donations to Louisville Urban League

Holy Grale on Bardstown Road will close after this weekend to allow its staff to "reset." It will also donate proceeds to the Louisville Urban League.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A restaurant in the Highlands is temporarily closing its doors on Monday, June 8. Holy Grale on Bardstown Road announced the closure on its Facebook page Thursday.

"Our staff has worked tirelessly during the pandemic to pivot and evolve based on the needs of the community, and we believe that it is time to give them the space they need to reset," the restaurant said in the post.

Holy Grale hopes to reopen, but it's unclear when that will happen.

"We do not have a reopening date that we can give you at this time -- as this world is still changing and still evolving -- and we hope to see you soon in a better world where we have the justice that we, our community and the world is fighting for," the restaurant said.

The restaurant and craft beer bar will be open this weekend for carryout and limited patio dining. Dining at the restaurant is by reservation only and reservations can be made online.

During this weekend, all draft beer sales will be donated to the Louisville Urban League.

"When the citizens of our city win this battle against the injustice our black community has faced for centuries, restoration and healing can begin. We believe Louisville Urban League has been, and will continue to be, instrumental in the beautiful rebirth of a Louisville we very much want to see," Holy Grale said in the Facebook post.
