FRANKFORT, Ky. — As Gov. Andy Beshear continues to lay out the state's Healthy at Work plan, remembering what opens when can get confusing.
Beshear previously announced Phase 1 of the plan, featuring the reopening of manufacturing, retail and houses of worship. Wednesday evening, the governor also released his plans for Phase 2, including dates for restaurant and day cares.
Here is what opens in Kentucky:
Phase 1
May 11:
- Manufacturing
- Construction
- Vehicle or Vessel Dealerships
- Office-Based Businesses (50%)
- Horse Racing (No Fans)
- Dog Grooming / Boarding
- Photography
May 20:
- Houses of Worship
- Retail
May 25:
- Gatherings of up to 10 people
- Hair salons and barbershops
- Cosmetology businesses
- Nail salons
- Tanning salons
- Massage therapy
- Acupuncturists
- Tattoo parlors
Phase 2
May 22
- Restaurants at 33% capacity and unlimited outdoor seating
June 1
- Movie theaters
- Gyms and fitness centers
June 11
- Campgrounds
June 15
- Day cares or other child care
- Low-touch and outdoor youth sports
Beshear said later dates are plans, but if the state notices a jump in cases or other issues, they can push back reopens.
Before any business can reopen, they must follow requirements in addition to industry-specific guidelines the state will release in the coming days. While businesses are open, employees can still get unemployment if they meet the criteria as the reopening could lead to less hours.
The Kentucky Retail Federations has submitted its plan to reopen Kentucky retail, and other organizations will do the same for their industry.
If people complain that a business is non-compliant, local officials like the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health & Wellness will investigate claims by contacting a business through phone, possible in-person visits or harsher fines.
