Fans sue over NCAA championship banner

The 2013 banner is now at the center of a lawsuit.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The UofL championship banner from 2013 is now at the center of a lawsuit.

The 2013 championship banner for the UofL Basketball team was taken down in the wake of the Katina Powell Escort scandal and now a group of fans is suing the NCAA.

They call themselves the University of Louisville Protection and Advocacy Coalition. They said the NCAA treated UofL unfairly and now they want your donations to fight the NCAA’s decisions.

The lawsuit is asking for the games, final four appearances, and the championship to be reinstated.

In February the NCAA denied the university's appeal to reinstate those games after parties happened in the basketball dorm that included dancers and escorts while basketball recruits visited UofL.

The UofL PAC that filed the lawsuit has created a website to gather donations from fans. They say it's all to help fight to restore the 2013 Championship banner.
