Coroner confirms that Valley Station family died from carbon monoxide poisoning

The Jefferson County Coroner released the cause of death for Juvenal Garcia Mora, his three-year-old son Cruz, and eight-year-old daughter Mayra on Sunday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — The tragic deaths of a father and his two children in Valley Station have officially been confirmed as accidental from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The Jefferson County Coroner released the cause of death for Juvenal Garcia Mora, his three-year-old son Cruz, and eight-year-old daughter Mayra on Sunday. All three died from asphyxia via carbon monoxide poisoning.

The three were found unresponsive in their garage on the morning of November 28. The car was still running inside. Investigators believe that the father was warming up the car, but did not open the garage door.

A GoFundMe account that was started to help with the funeral costs has surpassed its $20,000 goal.
