LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Law enforcement and community leaders met Monday in the Beechmont neighborhood to look at ways to stop the recent rash of violent crime.

Newly-elected Metro Councilman Vitalis Lanshima who organized the meeting says a well-rounded approached that balances law enforcement, social programs and community engagement to help residents feel safe in their neighborhoods.

“It’s not about complaining. It’s about how do we live here with an action plan? What we can do as a community going forward,” Lanshima said.
