BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) - The City of Bardstown and the Bardstown P.D. have confirmed that Officer Nick Houck has been fired for interfering with the investigation into the disappearance of Nelson Co. woman Crystal Rogers.

A document released by the city said that Houck interfered by calling his brother and Rogers' boyfriend Brooks Houck with knowledge that he was being interviewed as part of the investigation on July 8th, 2015.

The call with prior knowledge was said to be enough to be considered an act of interference and that he "put the interests of his brother" ahead of the investigation.

Houck failed a polygraph test in relation to the alleged violation on July 25th, administered by the FBI.

As the investigation continued, Chief Rick McCubbin issued a charging statement in reference to Houck's continued lack of cooperation with the ongoing criminal investigation.
