LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Pearse Lyons, who built a multi-billion dollar company and revolutionized agriculture, has died at age 73. His company, Alltech, announced the news today.
The Irish immigrant founded the Nicholasville, Kentucky based company in 1980, growing it from a home operation to employing 5,000 people around the world.
In addition to his work in business, Lyons was a key figure in bringing the World Equestrian Games to Lexington in 2010.
A public visitation will be held for Lyons on March 16 with his funeral following the next day.
