TAYLORSVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – It has been confirmed by the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife, that there is a search and rescue effort underway.

A search is been underway for a white male who is 49-years-old.

He was in a boat at Settlers Trace Marina at Taylorsville Lake that had launched in the water when they noticed that they forgot to insert the plug in the 25 foot runabout boat.

The man was standing on the back of the boat attempting to get to shore before the boat sank when he fell off the back.

It is unknown if he slipped off or was incapacitated by carbon dioxide poisoning.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor at this time.

There efforts have moved to a recovery.

Responders will be on scene attempting to recover the man until dark.

If unsuccessful tonight, the recovery effort will resume Monday at 8 or 9 a.m.

Responders on the Lake at the time responded within minutes.

Dive teams also on scene searching for 4 hours, first notification came in at 2:24 p.m.

Taylorsville Fire, Spencer Fire & Rescue and Shelby County Fire & Rescue, KSP, Corps of engineers all aided in the response. Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is currently the lead investigation agency.
