4-hour standoff ends in Paristown Pointe with suspect in custody

MetroSafe confirmed a man was stabbed on E. Breckinridge Street and Schiller Avenue, and the SWAT team was at the scene.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police say a four-hour standoff in the Paristown Pointe neighborhood has come to an end with a man in custody.

Police said it all went down on Goullon Court, not too far from East Broadway.

According to police, a man barricaded himself inside a home after some type of altercation with another person.

Danielle Hayden, who lives in the neighborhood believes the same man tried to enter her home and she and her husband confronted him – telling her he wanted water.

“[He was] right in front of us as we are trying to talk to him – he tries to enter our neighbor’s house. Right through the back door and my husband at that point said, ‘what do you think you are doing? You have to get out of here!’ and thank goodness he ran away,” Hayden said.

Officers used tear gas to force the suspect from the home.

The man he’s accused of assaulting was taken to University Hospital for treatment but is expected to be okay.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, surrendered peacefully.
