LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A 12-hour standoff is over in Okolona and ended in the arrest of one man.
The situation began around 11:45 a.m., Monday, Sept. 19, right off Blue Lick Road at the Falcon Crest Apartments.

Police say a man, identified as 31-year-old Paul Badamo, barricaded himself alone inside one of the apartments on Falcon Crest Drive. LMPD said they were originally dispatched to a motorcycle crash on Falcon Crest Drive that led to a verbal and physical dispute. Badamo ran back to his residence and then barricaded himself. He refused to follow commands from officers to leave his residence.

When a gunshot was heard coming from the residence, SWAT was called to the scene, according to LMPD.

Delmarvia Mitchell lives next door and she said the police asked for her permission to put a hole in her wall so they could access the apartment the man was in.

LMPD said they used gas to force the man out of his residence. Badamo still refused to exit the residence and fired several shots at officers, LMPD said.

After 14 hours Badamo exited the residence and was then taken into custody. He was then sent to University Hospital.

Charges will be filed once Badamo is released from the hospital.

JCPS released a statement saying 11 students from Butler and Western High were brought to Southern High School and 11 elementary school students were sent to Blake elementary because they could not be dropped off at their bus stops due to the SWAT situation. All students were picked up by 6 p.m., according to JCPS.
