Body of 19-year-old kayaker recovered in Elizabethtown lake

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The body of a Hardin County man has been recovered from an Elizabethtown lake one day after officials received a call about a kayaker in distress.

Chris Denham with the Elizabethtown Police Department said the body of 19-year-old Kenneth Robertson was recovered in Freeman Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Officials received a call about a kayaker in distress in the lake at around 3:43 p.m. Tuesday. While crews were able to respond within minutes, Robertson was not located.

Officials said his body was found about 20 feet underwater. Members of the Louisville Metro Police Dive team, Elizabethtown Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and Hardin County Coroner's Office helped search.

City officials will host a press conference to discuss their search at 5:30 p.m.
