Kentucky family holds funny end of the school year awards ceremony

These last couple of months have been rough for everyone, especially parents who've found themselves trying to make sure their kids are doing all of their NTI work.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Many parents had to struggle to fight cell phones, boredom and a slew of other obstacles when it came to getting their kids to focus during non-traditional learning.

One Kentucky family decided to celebrate by holding an end of year award ceremony.

It was the Shoemaker University NTI Awards Ceremony that really brought humor to the stress of staying on top of four kids and their school work.

The awards ranged from "in one ear and out the other" to "most likely to correct the teacher.

"This little fella has worked really hard trying to get Alexa to do his homework for him. So I give him the 'Hey Alexa, the answer to my NTI homework award," mom Jodi Shoemaker said.

They ended the ceremony honoring their graduating senior Sonya who had a 3.98 GPA.

"They worked really hard, they've kept a positive attitude through all of this and I felt like they deserved a little bit of recognition and awards. They were funny awards, but they still deserved every one of them," Shoemaker said.
