ROWAN COUNTY, Ky (WHAS11) -- Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis described her ordeal through emails as "a firestorm" and "chaotic".

The Associated Press obtained emails Davis sent to a supporter under the Kentucky Open Records Law. One of those emails had her complaining that many were just trying to "make a whipping post out of her".

She told her supporters that she weighed the cost of her actions but decided to stay the course anyways.

Davis spent five whole nights in jail back in September for her refusal to issue marriage licenses.
