Teen arrested, charged with murder in Hikes Lane shooting turned homicide

Police say 17-year-old Kameron Faircloth shot at a car with four people inside after an alleged drug deal went wrong.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A teenager is facing murder charges after a shooting left a Moore High School student dead and a second person hurt.

According to arrest records, police say Kameron Faircloth shot at a car with four people inside after the group allegedly stole some drugs during a drug deal near Hikes Lane on April 23.

One of the people, identified as 17-year-old Christopher Ward, died by the time the car got to Audubon Hospital.

Investigators say witnesses identified Faircloth as the shooter and he admitted to the shooting to his mother who then called police.

Jefferson County Public Schools confirmed Ward was a student at Moore High School.

District officials say counselors are available to other students who reach out.
