Police: Man shot in Portland, drives himself to get help

Police said the man, believed to be in his 20s was shot Saturday evening on Montgomery Street but managed to drive himself to Taylor Boulevard to get help.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is recovering in the hospital after a shooting in Portland ended in South Louisville.

According to a Metro Police spokesperson, officers responded to the 2800 block of Taylor Boulevard on a report of a shooting around 7:45 p.m. Satur

At the scene, officers located a man believed to be in his 20’s suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said upon further investigation, they determine the man was shot in the 2900 block of Montgomery Street, got in his vehicle and drove to Taylor Boulevard where he flagged down someone for help.

The man was taken to UofL Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
