LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The past weekend was a busy one for LMPD officers. Thirteen people were shot from Friday, June 14, to Sunday, June 16. Of those victims, two died and eleven were injured in seven different incidents.

So far, no suspects have been arrested in any of the incidents, and police are urging those in the community who may know something to speak up.

“A lot of these cases get solved through information from the community, especially the homicides, because our victims can no longer speak for themselves,” Lieutenant Emily McKinley said during a press conference.

The first incident happened June 14 in the 9400 block of New Maple. The victim was located in the 5400 block of Robbs around 10:15 p.m. She was transported to University Hospital.

Around 6:30 a.m. June 15, police located a man who had been shot in the 800 block of Cecil Ave. He was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Just after 8 p.m. June 15, police responded to a shooting on 264 E between Poplar Level and Newburg Roads where a driver was allegedly shot by his passenger. The alleged shooter fled the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital to undergo surgery.

Police found a teen with a gunshot and graze wound in the Chickasaw neighborhood on June 15 around 11:30 p.m. Police do not believe the shooting happened where the victim was found and are looking into where it may have happened. He is in stable condition.

Just before 1:30 a.m. June 16, police said seven people were shot in the parking lot of a liquor store near Dixie Highway and Ormsby Avenue. All the victims were transported to University Hospital where one victim, Durelle Moxley, died. LMPD said the other five people appear to be in stable condition.

Police found one man in his 20s who had been shot on Georgetown Place in the Jacobs neighborhood at around the same time. He was transported to University Hospital where he remains in stable condition.

LMPD said a teen also showed up at Audubon Hospital at around 2:30 a.m. with a gunshot wound. Police believe he was shot at The Bellamy apartments near the University of Louisville. He is in stable condition.

Those with information in these cases are urged to contact police.

“Especially for the victims who are no longer with us, they need somebody to speak up for them,” McKinley said.
