LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The floodwaters have receded and cleanup continues in the Riviera subdivision and help, just arrived in time.
Around 45 team members from the University of Louisville including sophomore Dae Williams handed out supplies to residents affected.
“The help us during the season – so whenever this happens, I want them to be able to see that we can be called on too to help out,” Williams said.
The help for flood victims by the football team started recently when Coach Bobby Petrino donated $100,000 to recovery efforts.
Despite Williams’ ankle injuries, he and his teammates put smiles on residents’ faces.
“Man I’m here to help. I don’t care about no boot,” he said.
Tom Swicegood, a fan, proudly wore his black and Cardinal red.
“I had the shirt on before I found out. I can say that honestly,” he said. “The neighborhood came together. We helped each other and who else came out to help. It’s very heartening.”
An hour the football players gave made the day just a little brighter for the Riviera subdivision.
