Beshear: New jobs, big investments coming to multiple communities around Kentucky

Four companies announced millions in new investments and expansions throughout the state, bringing more high paying jobs for Kentuckians.

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Four companies are investing more than $200 million total in new developments and expansions across the Bluegrass state.

Earlier this month, Governor Andy Beshear said the state had already broken multiple economic records, including more than 17,000 new jobs and more than $11 billion in new investments this year alone.

On Monday, Beshear announced three more companies with new developments across the Commonwealth bringing in high wage jobs for Kentuckians.

Universal Piping Industries Inc. (UPI) said they would be constructing a new operation in Georgetown and relocating its existing Lexington facilities.

The new 108,000-square-foot facility will bring 25 new high-wage jobs, with construction expected to begin in February 2022 and be completed by April 2023.

In Radcliff, Kentucky, one of the largest graphic communications companies in North America, Taylor Corporation, will invest $18.8 million in its existing operation, adding an additional 28 jobs.

Leaders plan to expand the company's existing 79,500-square-foot facility by 30,000 square feet.

Taylor Corporation produces pressure sensitive labels for a variety of industries, such as consumer packaged goods, manufacturing and distribution, health care and retail.

It is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2022 and be completed by the end of next year.

Then in Lewisport, Commonwealth Rolled Products said they plan to add 40 well-paying jobs in a $167 million investment for its aluminum rolling mill in Hancock County.

The money will be used for new equipment and building upgrades to modernize the operation and better position the commonwealth to support automotive and industrial customers.

On Wednesday, Beshear also announced a building components startup would create 146 full-time jobs in Frankfort with a $17.7 million investment.

SteelBlue Building Components will move into the former Genesco shoe manufacturing facility on Hickory Drive in Frankfort.

It will serve as the company's primary manufacturing location of building components for the commercial construction industry.

The project is scheduled to begin in January and will be completed by the end of 2022.
