LOUISVILLE, Ky. — TARC will launch its first Bus Rapid Transit line in Louisville on Monday.

The route along Dixie Highway will take people from the Gene Snyder to downtown Louisville every 15 minutes during the week. The transit line, called RAPID, is part of a $35 million project to improve safety and security along Dixie Highway.

RAPID offers improved bus service along one of TARC's busiest areas, previously served by Route 18. The transit route will have six downtown stops, eight priority buses, and 37 highly-visible bus stations and stops.

A ribbon-cutting will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 6 at the Kroger at 4915 Dixie Highway.
