LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Local musician Katie Didit has started a new weekly open mic night and is inviting all up-and-coming musicians, poets and comedians to share their art in front of a live audience. Katie plays stand up bass and vocals in the group Mama Said String Band and is also a singer-songwriter. She stopped by Great Day Live with fellow musician Derek LaFountain, who plays in Hollow Bone, The Tunesmiths and other various groups, to talk about the new open mic night and to play a couple songs. Katie’s open mic is part of a statewide group called Listen Locally, which helps promote and connect musicians, music-related businesses and charities. You can be part of the Listen Locally open mic every Wednesday at DiOrio’s, which is located at 919 Baxter Avenue in Louisville, KY. Signups begin at 7:30 PM and performances go from 8-10 PM.
