LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thousands of pounds of trash ends up in the Ohio River, but now, one Louisville artist is putting it on display.

Al Gorman's collection, "From the Cabinet of Unnatural Curiosities", is currently on display at the Moremen Gallery on West Main.

He goes to the falls of the Ohio River to collect litter, so he can later create something of value.

"When people see my work, they're often conflicted," Gorman said. "They see the happier, playful, creative side but then there's also a cut of sadness and knowing what these materials are and where they came from."

He said there's an alchemy to being an artist he likes, and the materials help him bring that to the forefront.

Gorman's last day at the Moremen Gallery is Saturday, Aug. 13 from noon to 4 p.m.
