CLEVELAND — As 16 contenders get one step closer to cementing their spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, you can help decide which of this year's nominees has a better chance at induction.
The Rock Hall is hosting its annual fan ballot once again, allowing voters to pick their five favorites once a day now through April 30. You can cast your ballot HERE. In-person voting is also available at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself.
"The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a "fans' ballot" that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2021 inductees," Rock Hall officials explain.
This year's list of 16 nominees include seven first-timers:
- JAY-Z (first-time nominee)
- Iron Maiden (first-time nominee)
- Foo Fighters (first-time nominee)
- Mary J. Blige (first-time nominee)
- The Go-Go's (first-time nominee)
- Chaka Khan
- LL Cool J
- New York Dolls
- Rage Against the Machine
- Todd Rundgren
- Tina Turner
- Dionne Warwick (first-time nominee)
- Kate Bush
- Fela Kuti (first-time nominee)
Nominee ballots are sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry. Factors such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.
2021 marks the 36th annual Rock Hall induction. The inductees will be announced in May, and the ceremony is expected to take place in Cleveland this fall.
