Kentuckiana Pride festivals, parades postponed

The Kentuckiana Pride Foundation and Southern Indiana Pride have both postponed their festivities. The organizations are looking at rescheduling for later this year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Editor's note: Video above originally aired in 2019.

Both the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation and Southern Indiana Pride have postponed their annual festival and parades.

Kentuckiana Pride festival and parade was scheduled to take place on  June 19 and Saturday June 20 at Waterfront Park. Southern Indiana Pride's festival and parade was scheduled for June 6 in Jeffersonville.

New dates for the 20-year anniversary of Kentuckiana's Pride Foundation's festival and parade will be announced mid May. The organization said their board and its festival partners are working closely with city officials on alternative dates.

Southern Indiana Pride is exploring options for a rescheduling and plans to work with the city of Jeffersonville to determine a date.

"We look forward to gathering together and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community later this year, we have a stellar 20th anniversary festival planned and are committed to ensuring your safety," Kentuckiana Pride Foundation president, Allen Hatchell, said.

Updates regarding both festival and parades will be posted in the organization's social media, respectively.
