Sam is a meteorologist at WHAS11 and also reports local traffic updates and how weather plays a factor with your day to day commute on Good Morning Kentuckiana.
Sam also provides weather forecasts for WHAS11 at Noon during the week.
Sam is a Minnesotan and comes to Louisville to take a break from the extreme cold winters! Sam graduated from Iowa State University (yes, a big Cyclones fan) and worked in both Sioux Falls, SD and as Chief Meteorologist at FOX 21 in Duluth, MN prior to joining the First Alert Storm Team in September of 2022.
He is also a proud Emmy Award Winner, displaying his meteorological skills to keep viewers safe from both Midwest tornadoes and blizzards in 2018.
Sam considers himself to be an expert when it comes to forecasting cold and snow in the winter months but is excited to learn more about our local climate and forecasting for the Louisville Area.
Outside of work, Sam is most likely to be going for a run or bike ride, playing tennis or golf, or simply enjoying a hike in one of the area’s parks and trails system.
Sam says he considers himself “Minnesota Nice” and has a good sense of humor.
Using his experience, he is looking forward to keeping viewers informed and safe from severe weather and winter cold/snow.
